This course is on climate change and how it affects the policies and practices of international development. After a brief review of some recent data on climate change, and the role of the Paris Agreement, the course will take a critical look at the multiple challenges for development policy to address broader issues of climate change in the developing world. Some of the topics covered in the course include: the effects of climate change in developing countries; climate change discourses in developing countries; forced migration and conflict; climate smart agriculture; deforestation, REDD policies and governance; resource transfers and climate funds; policies for low-carbon development; private sector development and green growth; city networks and climate change.
