Description

The block course offers a practice-oriented introduction to the central topics, concepts and methods of political risk analysis - the analysis of the influence of political developments on economic relationships. Using country examples from Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa, the central political risk categories for the African continent will be elaborated at macro and micro levels. The core of the seminar is the conception of an analytical framework and its application on the basis of a country example chosen by the students.

The knowledge and skills acquired in this course are immediately applicable to understand the challenges faced by governments, international organisations and companies in dealing with African countries. The practical relevance is also illustrated by numerous examples from the lecturer's experience at a British consulting firm.
