In this research-oriented seminar we will analyse and discuss several philosophic, economic and sociological perspectives on the purpose and value of the market sphere, from the 18th century onwards. The readings will include a broad range of texts and positions, and we will discuss issues such as the freedom and unfreedom provided by the market sphere, ways to control or restrain market activity, and the moral presuppositions of the market-exchange.

This seminar is run in English.
