This course will be taught October 26-30 2020. The lectures will be online (pre-recorded and shared on Youtube). Send an email to me on sparre@uni-potsdam.de  (or enrol on PULS) if you are considering to participate.

The schedule for Monday 26.10.2020 is the following:

MONDAY 26.10.2020

#1
If you are registered at Potsdam University, please enrol on PULS.

If you don't have access to PULS, you are still welcome to attend, but if you anyhow can enroll, please do it. I only get credit for having taught the course, if you enroll!

#2
Watch this pre-recorded video lecture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1n94BEtJAmQ (watch this ahead of the below Zoom classroom session)

#3
There will be a Zoom classroom session 26.10.2020 Monday 13.00 - 15.00. Here is a link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83881256526?pwd=NlRwWHY0RisvbFVzRW5kd3J3M01YUT09 I plan a daily Zoom session like this on 26-30.10.2020.

In the Zoom classroom session you will go through this online Python tutorial https://www.learnpython.org/en/Welcome from ”Learn the basics” to ”Loops”. You can ask questions on Zoom (via text chat or video), if you have problems. The Zoom classroom sessions intend to mimic an exercise session, where you work on exercises and I walk around to help you.

In the Zoom session you should also attempt to install python on your own computer.

- For windows and Mac I suggest Anaconda: https://www.anaconda.com/products/individual Use "spyder" for editing and running, or use the build-in command line.

- For linux, use the built-in python installation, or download anaconda https://www.anaconda.com/products/individual For editing code, the Atom editor is a good choice https://atom.io

The above recommendations are based on what students usually prefer. Feel free to find another way to run Python. Some students also preferred running Jupyter in a browser https://jupyter.org/

I try to organise the course, such that the workload is distributed equally over 5 days. You are of course welcome to watch the videos and solve the exercises, whenever you want, if you are e.g. occupied some of the days. If you cannot attend the Zoom sessions, and you encounter questions/trouble just drop me an email.

If you are just interested in the lectures and not the exercises this is also fully OK with me.
