This course takes a look at some of the more important linguistic aspects of the history of English by examining texts from the earliest (Anglo-Saxon) period to the present day.
While our main concern will be linguistic analyses of these texts and their relevance for the history of English, we will also consider the historical context. The course will thus be of relevance to students of language as well as those with an interest in English history.
It is recommended that participants are attending the lecture series An Introduction to the History of English, or have attended in a previous semester.
The course will take place in asynchronous form: see "Leistungspunkterwerb" for course evaluation.
Literatur Course material will be made available on Moodle.
Leistungsnachweis Course assessment will compromise a number of tasks which you will be asked to submit in the course of the semester. These tasks, together with submission dates, will be posted at the beginning of the semester.
