This class will explore the possibilities of thinking together the decolonial and antiracist agendas of Native American/Indigenous and African American critiques of the U.S. nation-state. We will look at the way in which scholars, writers, and activists have pointed to and envisioned both the links and the possible incommensurabilities of these liberatory projects. This class will take place online, with a predominantly asynchronous format (with weekly or biweekly lectures and reading assignments posted regularly). However, we will meet via zoom during class time (Fridays, 10-12) three times during the semester: on November 13, December 11, and February 5. Please make sure that you are available for a zoom meeting on these dates.
