The seminar has an asynchronic format with some regular Zoom meetings every third or fourth session. All the sessions take place at the assigned time. At the beginning of each session materials for ensuing week will be provided on Moodle. Asynchronic discussion will mostly take place at the Moodle Forum.

Stevenson is remarkable for being both a popular author and a writers’ writer, admired by, among others, Henry James and Marcel Proust. In this course we shall study works from all the genres in which Stevenson excelled: adventure fiction (Treasure Island), psychological novella (The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde), historical novel (The Master of Ballantrae), colonial romance (Ebb Tide), poetry and essay. Special emphasis will be placed on Stevenson"s concept of evil.
