Halakhic Texts of the Babylonian Talmud (Sanhedrin Chapter. 5) - Einzelansicht

Laws relating to the adjudication of capital crimes, focusing on the court’s interrogation of witnesses and rendering a final judgment. We will read selections from tractate Sanhedrin, chapter 5, including the Mishnah with Rashi and Bartenura commentaries and the G’mara with Rashi commentary and other relevant halakhic material. All texts will be read and studied in the original Hebrew and Aramaic. Students should come to class prepared to read and translate to the class the assigned material. It is strongly recommended that the Steinsaltz commentary be used in preparing for class.
