In this seminar we want to deal with the principles of Marxist, feminist and anti-racist critique and ask the question: How do the various social science approaches understand the relationship between class, gender and 'race'? What can we learn as future political scientists? We will read some classical texts and then, in the course of the seminar, we will discuss these analyses in different sub-fields of political science, from international relations to peace and conflict studies to gender and migration studies. Finally, we will get familiar with critiques to different approaches of intersectionality, that give students insights into the limits and possibilities of the differing frameworks.
