This course will be taught online using a mixed format with synchronous and asynchronous components.

Grammar is an essential part of the language classroom. In this course we are going to study different approaches to grammar teaching. After evaluating theoretical concepts as well as arguments for and against teaching grammar, we will have a look at tasks and activities in schoolbooks and get to know a variety of interactive and student-centered methods of grammar teaching, using texts, games, role play, songs, stories and new media. By analysing practical classroom examples, we will address questions of differentiation, individualization and assessment and discuss how to develop tasks and activities to cater for students with different abilities and needs.
