This refers not only to the mapping of “blank” spaces or colonial city planning, but still has repercussions today. This seminar is designed to give you a broad overview of the entanglement of geography and postcolonialism by discussing how this manifests itself in knowledge production, popular culture, tourism or in the ways politics are played out in specific places. Our material will include mainly maps, paintings and texts and we will develop a deeper understanding of how these are implicated in different ways of seeing the world.
