Classes will take place once a week online via Zoom and once a week in-person at Griebnitzsee where students are expected to follow the current Covid-19 regulations (see above). Students will receive access information on the evening before the course begins via e-mail from their teacher if they have been admitted to a group that meets online first.
Check that all course times for the group for which you want to apply fit into your schedule.
Voraussetzung: Between 55 and 69 points on the placement test or completion of the course UNIcert II/1 English for Academic Purposes.
Students in this course need to buy the textbook Englische Rechtssprache: Ein Studien- und Arbeitsbuch 5. Auflage, published by C.H. Beck, ISBN 978 3 406 76422 6 (available on Amazon and the C.H. Beck online store). Additional material will be available on Moodle and the teacher will contact participants in the week starting 25 October 2021 to give them access to the Moodle course.
The course will introduce participants to aspects of legal systems and laws in English-speaking countries (the United Kingdom, the United States and South Africa). Students will practise language skills in legal contexts and will learn to express knowledge and opinions on legal topics.
Attendance at the first meeting of the course is mandatory to preserve the place in the class.
