Grammar is an essential part of the language classroom. In this course we are going to study different approaches to grammar teaching in the primary EFL classroom. After evaluating theoretical concepts as well as arguments for and against teaching grammar we will take a look at tasks and activities in school books and get to know a variety of student-centred and interactive methods of grammar teaching, using songs, games, stories, texts and new media. By analysing practical classroom examples, we will address questions of lesson planning and material design and discuss how to develop tasks and activities to cater for students with different abilities and needs.
This course will be taught online using a mixed format with synchronous and asynchronous components. Once you have signed up and been admitted on PULS you will receive an email via PULS to let you know how to access the online course on Moodle. If you are interested in taking this course and can not (yet) access PULS please send me an email.
