Scrutinising diverse Othering processes re-/generated by patriarchy, colonialism and capitalism from a Cultural Studies-informed perspective, we will analyse elements of our power structures that make up our (lacks of) legitimised bodily autonomy and knowledge. Among these elements are emotional experience/s, dehumanising discourses, (lacks of) self-/representation, confining and eliminating practices.
This seminar offers an opportunity to explore how, e.g., forms of epistemic, emotional, and physical violence constitute and contribute to our perceived identities and (lacks of) bodily, social, and global mobility. We will also contemplate ways of challenging and ways to challenge individual, institutional, and historical discrimination.
