Jewish Spirituality: An Introduction - Einzelansicht

A survey of spiritual and mystical trends throughout Jewish history. We will touch on rabbinic and hekhalot (heavenly palaces) expressions, medieval sufi influences, kabbalah, hasidism and neo-hasidism, as they and we think about approaching the divine, wisdom, soul, devotion, practice, self-awareness and similar essentials of the religious life.

The course will be conducted in English. Readings will be in English. The final assignment will be a research paper or other project on a topic chosen by the student in coordination with the instructor.
