Students will master the special cantillation system for High Holy Days, and prepare the three readings for Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur mornings from the unvocalized text. In addition, students will learn the special High Holy Day melodies for the Torah blessings, as well as chanting the augmented text for the blessing after the Haftarah.
Time permitting, we will explore chanting these portions in the vernacular as well as some High Holy Day recitatives for the advanced students.
Literatur Literature and sources will be made known during the course of classes.
Leistungsnachweis

Successful participation requires a presentation in the seminar on one of the above-mentioned topics.
