Focused on science fiction, this course provides an overview of the genre and the key techniques and theories for critical analysis and interpretation. The main question and concern with which we will approach the texts is whether and how feminist writers reconceptualize sovereignty.

For those of you who would like head start on the reading material, we will be discussing Octavia E. Butler´s Dawn, Nalo Hopkinson´s Brown Girl in the Ring, and Victor Lavalle´s The Changeling.

You will need to have read Octavia Butler´s Dawn by 23.11.2021 !!! 

You will need to have read Victor Lavalle´s The Changeling by 04.01.2022

You will need to have read Nalo Hopkinson´s Brown Girl in the Ring or Don DeLillo´s Zero K by 01.02.2022

All texts will be uploaded to Moodle with the exception of Octavia E. Butler´s Dawn, Nalo Hopkinson´s Brown Girl in the Ring, and Victor Lavalle´s The Changeling. Please acquire a copy of the books.
