Check that all course times for the group for which you want to apply fit into your schedule. Attendance at the first meeting of the course is mandatory to keep your place in the class.

Voraussetzung: Between 55 and 69 points on the placement test or completion of the course UNIcert II/1 English for Academic Purposes.

Students in this course need to buy the textbook Englische Rechtssprache: Ein Studien- und Arbeitsbuch 5. Auflage, published by C.H. Beck, ISBN 978 3 406 76422 6. It is available on Amazon and the C.H. Beck online store, and second-hand copies are probably available from students who took the course in WiSe 2021-22.

Additional material will be available on Moodle and the teacher will give students access to the Moodle course either in the first class or before.

The course will introduce participants to aspects of legal systems and laws in English-speaking countries (the United Kingdom, the United States and South Africa). Students will practise language skills in legal contexts and will learn to express knowledge and opinions on legal topics.

Classes for both courses will end two weeks before the end of the semester (on 12 and 13 July respectively, with the end-of-course test a day or two later) so additional classes will be arranged with the teacher to make up for this missed time.
