This seminar will explore ways of teaching CLIL and education for sustainable development in the primary EFL classroom. We will discuss theoretical and methodological approaches and the potential of bilingual lessons and students will develop materials and activities for the classroom which will be discussed at the end of the seminar.
There are two options for students to participate in this seminar (to be discussed at the beginning of the semester):
1) on a regular weekly basis throughout the SoSe 2022
2) on a regular weekly basis in the first half of the semester. The second half will take place in the context of the international and interdisciplinary summer school “Teaching the SDGs – Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship”, August 28 – September 3, 2022. The summer school will bring together 80 student teachers and lecturers from Potsdam and international partner universities. It will take place at Campus Neues Palais and Campus Golm. Credit requirements: Active participation including obligatory readings, research, online assignments, development and reflection of teaching ideas and materials. For those students attending the summer school, in the second half of the seminar: active participation in project work during the summer school, including development of teaching ideas and materials and reflection of the summer school experience.
