Cosmic Horror - Einzelansicht

Cosmic horror evokes the void, impossible connections across history, gates opening on to terrifying vistas beyond time and space, and malignant deities and their savage human following bent on destroying the world. In recent years this brand of horror has enjoyed a surge in popularity, proliferating across various media, from literature and movies to music and board and video games. In this class, we will mostly concern ourselves with contemporary cosmic horror literature. Discussion topics include conspiracy, class, setting and character, cults and faith, and reverse horror, among others.

Over the course of the seminar, students will write a learning journal consisting of reading responses and reflections on class discussions (3 credits). To gain 6 credits, students will additionally submit a term paper.
