Seminar description:
This seminar examines the link between diversity and social inequalities in contemporary societies, including Germany. In the first part of the seminar, consideration will be given to the meaning of diversity and to the analysis of educational practices related to the production and perpetuation of inequalities. The seminar will then turn its attention to the analysis of how different forms of diversity may lead to inequalities in education.
In the second part students will choose a scientific article to focus on and deepen their knowledge about inequalities in Germany, then students will in small groups create one scientifically based “podcast episode” each on a topic around diversity and social injustice in the school context, based on the concept of the "Researching Diversity" podcast (www.researchingdiversity.com).
