Not only since the Russian invasion of Ukraine has the German relations with Russia been a key question of international politics. This course will look at the development of German Ost- and Russlandpolitik since the end of the Cold War, extending to the question of NATO and EU eastern enlargement. By including the long-term perspective of German-Russian relations in the 20th century, this course will try to trace the developments of the 1990s and early 2000s.
